After almost 30 years at our Hyde Park premises, Headway Hyde Park will be relocating.
The land on which both San Salvador and Headway are currently situated is being sold. As a result, San Salvador is relocating and Headway will also need to find a new home.
We want to reassure our community that Headway Gauteng is not closing.
This is a change of premises, not an end to our programmes, services or the community that has grown around Headway over so many years.
For now, our programmes and services continue as usual from Hyde Park until further notice.
We intend to secure suitable new premises before the end of 2026 and, as far as possible, manage the physical move during the quieter December period so that we can minimise disruption. We aim to recommence services from our new premises in January 2027.
As we search for a new home, we are carefully considering the practical needs of our members, families and wider community. Accessibility, public transport, parking, safety, suitable programme and therapy spaces, and continuity of services remain central to our planning.
We know that this news may bring questions, particularly for those who rely on Headway’s programmes and support services. We will continue to share updates as soon as we have meaningful, confirmed information to communicate.
We have been incredibly blessed to call Hyde Park home for almost three decades. In a city and environment that have changed so much over the years, this space has been far more than simply a building. It has held countless conversations, friendships, support groups, therapy sessions, celebrations, difficult days, moments of learning and many shared cups of tea.
It has been an important part of Headway’s story, and we are deeply grateful for the years we have had here.
While this marks the end of a significant chapter, we are approaching the next one with hope and with a determination to secure a safe, accessible and sustainable new home from which Headway Gauteng can continue to support people affected by acquired brain injury and their families.
We will keep this page updated as our relocation plans progress.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding the move, we encourage you to contact us directly rather than rely on partial information or speculation.
