Every September, South Africans unite for Casual Day — the country’s biggest fundraising and awareness drive for persons with disabilities. Since it began in 1995, Casual Day has raised millions to support organisations working at the forefront of inclusion. Now in its 31st year, the campaign continues to prove that small actions — like buying a sticker for just R20 — can create extraordinary change.

Headway Gauteng is proud to once again be an official beneficiary in 2025.

Why It Matters for Brain Injury Survivors

For the people we serve, Casual Day isn’t just a once-a-year celebration — it helps sustain the programmes and services that survivors of brain injury and their families rely on every day. Brain injuries often result in long-term physical, cognitive, and emotional challenges. Without the right support, survivors risk being cut off from their communities, their independence, and in many cases, their livelihoods.

Casual Day helps us change that reality.

The 2025 Theme: Beyond the Label

The theme this year, “Beyond the Label – Embracing Unity Through Inclusion and Diversity,” calls on us to look past stereotypes and assumptions. Survivors of brain injury are more than a diagnosis. They are parents, workers, friends, and community members. At Headway, we see each person’s potential — and Casual Day gives us a platform to share those stories with the wider public.

What Your Sticker Supports

When you buy your sticker directly from Headway Gauteng, your contribution stays local. You’re directly supporting:

  • 🧠 Counselling & family support. Helping survivors and their loved ones adapt to life after injury.

  • 💪 Therapy. Biokinetics, occupational therapy, psychology, speech therapy, and social work.

  • 🚐 Practical assistance. Transport and food support for members who need it most.

  • 🌍 Community reintegration. Helping survivors reconnect, gain confidence, and rebuild independence.

In 2025, Headway also marks 30 years of service. Every sticker sold is an investment in three decades of resilience, recovery, and inclusion.
