5. Prepare a Jar of Hope

Create a Jar of Hope to provide a nutritious meal for someone in need. Here’s how:

  • 1 cup rice
  • 1 soup mix
  • 1 cup lentils
  • 1 unwrapped stock cube
  • 1 packet soup powder
  • A large car or container (an empty coffee jar works great)

Assembly instructions:

  1. Ensure your jar is clean and dry.
  2. Layer the ingredients in the jar. You can do this in any order you like.
  3. Start with rice, then add the soup mix, followed by lentils or peas.
  4. Add the unwrapped stock cube.
  5. If using, add the soup powder and any spices.
  6. Continue layering until all ingredients are in the jar.
  7. Close the lid firmly to keep ingredients fresh.

You can decorate the jar with a ribbon or label if you wish. These jars provide a simple, nutritious meal and show care for those in need. Drop off your completed Jar of Hope at Headway in Hyde Park. We’ll distribute these to individuals and families we support.

Your Jar of Hope will bring joy to those we serve.
